Located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Kids First offers proven-effective evaluation and treatment services for children who have been abused or severely neglected. Our services are comprehensive, child-focused, evidence-based, and are provided at no charge to the families.

May 3, 2011: Recap of Child Abuse Prevention Month

Thank you for putting Kids First in April!
A HUGE thank-you to all of our Celebrate! Kids First sponsors and volunteers!

Despite some crazy winds and chilly temps, this event was a great success! Kids First would like to thank our generous sponsors: CenturyLink, Twiford Law Firm, Albemarle Allergy & Asthma, Attorney Frank Hiner, and Coastal Pediatrics. Additionally, a big thank-you to Compro Computers, Famous Franks, Pepsi Bottling, Lone Wolf Productions, and Albemarle Distributing for your support. Our gratitude goes out to Dep. Todd Wagner from the Pasquotank Sheriff's Office for running the Identi-Kid station, and to Jennifer Snell of the State Bureau of Investigation for educating our attendees about Internet Safety.

This event would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteers. An ENORMOUS thank you to the Pasquotank County High School Honor Society, the Coast Guard Spouses' Club of Elizabeth City, the ECSU Hispanic Student Association, the Coast Guard Aviation Technical Training Center, the Elizabeth City Junior Women's Club, and the ECSU Colony of Gamma Gamma Sigma.

Thanks to all our supporters, we were able to share invaluable prevention information with all of the attendees of Celebrate! Kids First. We continue to strive for community prevention through education as we share with the community methods for preventing child abuse, and educate about the life-changing services offered at Kids First, Inc.

Please join Dr. Jennifer Brown for "Not on MY Watch!" Child Abuse Prevention Seminars

Enjoy a FREE BBQ dinner while learning how to protect your children from sexual predators, how to talk to your children about sexual abuse, how to identify the warning signs that a child is being abused, tips for talking to your childcare providers about Shaken Baby Syndrome, and much more. Certificates for contact hours are available upon request. Preregister by calling Kids First at 338-5658.

First Annal Steak Dinner Fundraiser a Delicious Success!
 
On Friday, April 1st. Kids First held a steak dinner fundraiser. (April Fool's- who knew you could get a delicious steak for just $8?!?) Despite a very chilly April day, volunteers cooked up scrumptious dinners and important funds for Kids First.

A very special thank-you to Pasquotank Sheriff's Office Investigators Brent McKecuen and Aaron Wallio for manning the grill and teaching us the ropes. We would also like to thank Golden Corral for offering such a great community opportunity!
